Summary : Alleged site of a Roman turret, no visible remains.
More information : Although the position of Sandysike turret, 56a, was not located during research on this section of the Wall in 1933 (1), it has been shown on the OS Map of Hadrian's Wall 1964 at NY 5176 6414, by plotting the measured position between the probable position of milecastle 56 and the known position of turret 56B. (2) No visible remains. (3) There is no surface trace of the turret; grid reference NY 5176 6414 indicates the measured position only. (4)
