Hutton Hall, a red sandstone two storeyed 18th century building with a slate roof. There is also a 15th century Peel tower
attached. Grade 2*. (2)

Cottage attached on right of Masonic Hall is the original Hutton Hall with C14 square pele tower at rear. Front C17 and C18, scored stucco, new slate roof, 2 storeys, a C17 chamfered stone doorway with boarded door, 3 sashes down and 4 up in stone architraves. King post roof. (3)

(The original Hutton Hall, sited from DOE(HHR) map at NY 51813025, is now a cottage attached to the Masonic Hall (see NY 53 SW 38). Both buildings are jointly shown as Hutton Hall (NAT) on OS 1:2500 1971). (see map diagram) (4)

Listed with plan and illustration. (5)

In 2008 new interpretations of documentary evidence- (licences to crenellate) suggest that the tower element of the building may have been built by Bishop Strickland around 1397-99, but this is open to debate and the building of the tower may refer to that at Penrith Castle. (6)
