St Cuthberts Church, Great Salkeld, a twelfth century church with a fourteenth century peel tower. (2)
The peel is in good condition and abuts the west side of the church. It measures 8.0m by 7.0m externally with walls 1.6m thick. The ground floor room is barrel vaulted with a doorway containing two bar holes. See photograph. (3)
Church of St. Cuthbert, Grade 2*, (for details see list). Parish church, built in the late 11th century, with a pele tower added to the west circa 1380. The church was altered circa 1480 and 1674 and restored in 1866 and 1879. Built of sandstone, with a slate roof. Listed Grade II*. (4)
