Summary : A 12th century Parish church with extensive late 19th century restoration. It is made from coursed, squared rubblewith snecked rubble additions. There are graduated slate roofs with stone copings and kneelers and a lead roof to the aisle. |
More information : (NY 58762449) Ch. (NAT) (1) Parish Church of St. Cuthbert stands at the south end of the village. The walls are of sandstone rubble with dressings of the same material and some tufa; the roofs are covered with slates and lead. The church consisting of Chancel and Nave, was built about the middle of the 12thcentury, and a later period a south porch was added. The building was drastically restored in 1886-7 when the South Aisle and Chapel were added and the South Porch rebuilt. (2)
