More information : A Bronze Age barrow cemetery mapped from good quality air photographs. The cemetery occupies an area 350m-750m E of the River Thames (SU 6109 8516 - SU 6078 8553 - SU 6107 8598 - SU 6118 8566 - SU 6109 8516).
The cemetery comprises twenty-two round barrows with diameters 12m-45m; many have multiple ditches or central pits or both.
Barrows defined by a single ditch: SU 6109 8516 (Morph No. TG.107.14.1) diameter 22m. SU 6096 8555 (Morph No. TG.107.14.2) diameter 22m. SU 6091 8553 (Morph No. TG.107.14.3) diameter 22m. SU 6116 8552 (Morph No. TG.107.14.4) diameter 40m. SU 6110 8553 (Morph No. TG.107.14.5) diameter 22m. SU 6095 8560 (Morph No. TG.107.14.7) incomplete: an arc of ditch 18m long. SU 6100 8536 (Morph No. TG.107.14.8) incomplete: an arc of ditch 20m long. SU 6112 8597 (Morph No. TG.107.14.11) diameter 45m. SU 6114 8572 (Morph No. TG.107.14.13) diameter 32m. All of the barrows lie E of the River Thames in an area of flat land containing many other Prehistoric ritual or funerary monuments including smaller round barrows, a Neolithic bank barrow and at least four mortuary enclosures.
