Summary : Former Camden Road New Church. Gothic church built in 1873 for a Swdenborgian Society previously meeting in Cross Street, Hatton Garden, designed by Edward C Gosling and built by Perry Brothers. The congregation moved to High Barnet in 1954 on the expiry of the lease, and after some years as a youth club the building became an arts centre. The building is in Early Decorated style and is faced with Kentish Rags with ashlar dressings. It comprises an aisled nave with short transepts, apsidal sanctuary and southwest tower. A new entrance was built in 1908 to designs by E G Trobridge. The interior of the church has been partitioned into spaces for exhibition, work and storage. |
