Summary : Manor house with a licence to crenellate granted in 1345. The house was recorded in documentary sources in 1672 but demolished in the 18th century. The site is now used as playing fields, and no remains are visible. A kitchen garden associated with the house was found during excavations in 1989.
More information : (SO 9980 9667) Moat (NR) (1) Homestead moat at Bescot Hall. "Rectangular; with one length of double moat; very perfect; dry; 300 ft x 250 ft 190 ft double length. (2) No trace of this moat remains. Its site is occupied by playing fields. (3) Bescot Hall. A moated site. In the 18th century house demolished and rebuilt on a new site NE of moat on what is today the W side of Bescot Drive. (a) Roger Hillary obtained licence to crenellate 13.2.1345 (b). (4) SO 998 967.
