More information : The Royal Forest of Kinver extended c 1300 from Tettenall and Wolverhampton in the North to the wastes of Kidderminster in the South, a distance of some 18 miles, and from Penn to Morfe, some 15 miles East to West. (1)
Kinver was a royal manor in 1086, and a royal hunting lodge probably exiated there in the reign of William II, although the earliest reference to it does not occur until the reign of Henry II. In 1195-6 King Richard I ordered a new building complex at Stourton to be constructed. (2) |
