Summary : Thor Missile Site, operational between February 1960 and August 1963, at the site of a World War Two military airfield.
More information : TF 068 322. The Thor Missile Site at RAF Folkingham was probably
constructed during 1959 after the agreement with the United States
to deploy Thor missiles in Britain. It was one of twenty such sites
built in eastern England. Responsibilty for handling the Thor
missiles was given to 223 Squadron RAF in February 1960, which was
one of the last Thor squadrons to be disbanded in August 1963.

The Thor site was built on the former Airfield at Folkingham. This
is now a fenced area, used for storing vehicles, and was therefore
inaccessible at the time of survey. (1-1a)
