HIGHFOLD VILLA

The site of a Roman villa of irregular courtyard type excavated in 1903 and dating from the late 2nd century. It is thought that the villa was repaired and used for housing cattle until its destruction by fire. Finds from the excavation included a mosaic and bath house. Painted wall plaster, window glass, hypocaust tiles, bronze coin and a gold ring were also discovered.
