More information : (SO 70298817) Flat topped mound (mound shown but not described on OS 6" 1968. This may be a windmill mound. (1) A grass covered mound, inconspicuously sited on a gentle east-facing slope, 60.0m south of Glazeley church. It measures 19.5m in average diameter, and is 1.3m in height on the uphill side, and 1.7m on the downhill side. There is no trace of a ditch and the level summit has a diameter of 9.0m. While the possibility of a mill mound exists the form and position also suggest that it may have been a small motte. There is no indication of a bailey. Published survey revised on 1:2500 MSD. (2)
The remains of a Bronze Age round barrow located 65 metres south-west of St Bartholomew's Church. The barrow mound measures around 21 metres in diameter at the base. The flat top is 8 metres across and may be the result of later modification. Scheduled. (3) |
