ELY PORTA

Ely Porta was begun in 1397 and was completed by Prior Poucher (1401-1418). It is a large rectangular, three storey block. The Bishop's prison was contained within part of the building and was used as such up to the end of the 17th century when the prison was moved to Lynn Road.
