Summary : Large, irregular earthworks at Warwick Knowe above Warwick Bridge were noted in the 18th century. They were supposed to have been raised to guard the bridge against the Scotch. Field investigation found only a natural hill under pasture with no trace of any earthworks. |
More information : (Area NY 466 567) At Warwick Knowe, immediately above Warwick Bridge are the remains of large earthworks of no regular shape. They are supposed to have been raised to guard the bridge against the Scots. (1-3) All trace of any former earthworks has disappeared. Warwick Knowe is a natural hill under pasture. (4)
