MONUMENT NO. 1134197

DESCRIPTION + /

A possible Bronze Age round barrow within Maiden Castle hillfort (SY 68 NE 7) recorded during RCHME earthwork survey in 1984-5 and confirmed by subsequent geophysical survey. It appears as an irregular mound 0.5 metres high and 20 metres in diameter, circa 20 metres north of the bank barrow (SY 68 NE 90). No ditch is visible on the surface. However, magnetometer survey recorded a circular, ditched enclosure about 25 metres in diameter at this point. Attached to the north-east side of this was another, slightly smaller, enclosure, only visible on the magnetometer survey.
