ST GREGORYS CHURCH

DESCRIPTION + /

Founded before 1066 as a collegiate church, when there were 8 canons there. Refounded as a Benedictine cell circa 1138, dissolved 1540. There are no standing remains of the Benedictine cell. A probable stewpond and 2 fishponds survive as earthworks at Morville Hall (SO69SE37). It is likely that the priory remains extend to the North-West beneath Morville Hall.
