Hob Uid: 113049
Location :

Grid Ref : SO6546094360

More information : [SO 65309415] Aston Eyre Hall Farm [T.I.] (1)

"The ruins of the manor-house incorporated in farm buildings at Aston Eyre, near Bridgnorth, and described by Timmins (a) as thirteenth century are two centuries later in date, though the gatehouse may ba as early as the fourteenth century". (2)

[SO 65339416] Aston Eyre Hall Farmhouse, "19th century
gabled farmhouse; incoporates remains of ancient gateway of 13th
century manor house of the Fitz-Aers". [SO 65289414] Barn "Large
stone building. Probably part of a great hall of a 2 storied house".
Grade II. (3)

The farmhouse is at SO 65339415. The older part of the building
is of stone, the remainder is largely pebble-dashed and appears to be
brick built. Mr. Davidson, the owner-occupier, confirmed the name
as shown by authy.1.
See GP AO/60/64/5 East Wall from the East.
The main range is at SO 65289414. See GP AO/60/64/6 NE portion
from S. East.
At SO 65469436 is an artificial hollow with an average depth
of 1.1m. It lies in flat land and is as shown on 25" AM, though
there are traces of a unportrayable outer bank on the west side.
Mr. Davidson said he thought it was a fish-pond and it has that
appearance. (4)

This complex remains generally as described except that
timber framing is now exposed on the west side of the farmhouse.
The possible fishpond has had a further pond constructed on its
north side and both are water filled. The complex is interesting
and important enough to be included for investigation by the
Conservation section of Salop County Council planning
