Summary : Landscape park and formal gardens to Stoke Rochford Hall, a country house constructed 1841-43, covering an area of 140 hectares. The park with formal gardens, parterres and terraces was laid out in 1665. The park was extended during the 18th century and in the mid 19th century. William Burn was commissioned in 1841-43 to design and layout formal terraced gardens. He was helped by William Andrews Nesfield who also designed the pleasure grounds.
More information : Landscape park and formal gardens at Stoke Rochford Hall, a country house constructed 1841-43. The park was imparked during the Medieval period, the ponds date from this period. The main group of ponds were enlarged during the 18th century and contain waterfalls. The formal gardens were designed during the mid 19th century and comprise terraces, shrubberies and lawns. (1)
