Summary : Medieval moated homestead. The partly water filled moat defines a polygonal subcircular island which is partially occupied by The Bower, an 18th century farmhouse which incorporates an earlier timber framed building. Access to the island was originally via a causeway which crosses the eastern arm of the moat. Scheduled.

The remains of a homestead moat at "The Bower" measure overall about 70.0m square. They comprise the water-filled south arm and south-west corner and the now dry east and north arms. The farmhouse and farm buildings stand upon the line of the filled-in west arm. The moat sides are steep and the bottom is flat; there is a 12.0m wide causeway in the east side. The moat averages 10.0 metres in width and is from 2.5 to 3.5 metres in depth.
