A circular mound, S of Laysters Church, had been dug into in modern times and only partly filled in. It is 25 yards in diameter at the top and rises 9ft above the bottom of the surrounding ditch. (2)

SO 56836321. A motte 27.0 metres in diameter across its top and standing up to 2.4m above the surrounding ground. It is encomapssed by a ditch 9.0 metres wide and up to 1.1m deep. The centre bears traces of modern mutilation. There is no trace of a bailey. Re-Surveyed at 1:2500. (4)
The mount has been mistaken for a burial tumulus and partially excavated forty or fifty years ago, multilating the eastern side. The adjoining field has some signs of entrenchment. (5)
"Explorations... conducted into this tumulus [revealed]... ashes, charcoal, and an accumulation of rough stones, but nothing in the shape of pottery or coin was found, nor could any definite form of stone structure be determined". (6)
