More information : [SO 50813958] WYE BRIDGE [G.T.] (1) "A wooden bridge existed here from pre-Conquest times, and from the architectural evidence some part of it was rebuilt in stone perhaps inthe 14th century. The bridge was rebuilt in stone with a gatehouse atthe south end in 1490". Damaged during 1645 siege and rebuilt: widened in 1826 and much repaired since. Plan and illns. (2) The bridge is still in use. There is no trace of the gatehouse. See G.P. AO/62/155/3. (3)
