Summary : The Salt Tower at the Tower of London occupies the south-west corner of the inner curtain wall. It dates from 1238 to 1275 and is a three-quarter cylindrical plan angle plan turret with the remains of a cross wall extending east to the outer curtain wall built to bar the inner ward. It has a basement and 2 storeys with an inserted upper floor. The first floor has a pentagonal-shaped cahmber with a 13th century fireplace in the south wall and a garderobe. The tower was restored by Anthony Salvin between 1857-8.
