Monument Number 109807

Hob Uid: 109807
Location :
County of Herefordshire
Tretire with Michaelchurch
Grid Ref : SO5100025510
Summary : U mound (site of).
More information : (SO 51002551) Mound in field, 1200yds W of St Michael's
Church, is of irregular shape, being segmental on the N and W
side, but possibly cut away on the E during the making of the
roadway against which it stands. It rises 4ft above the
surrounding ground on the W and 7ft above the road. In the same
field are two large irregular-shaped sinkings. (1)

The unsurveyable traces of a mound reduced and spread by
ploughing upon the top of a ridge within a pasture field.
Nearby is a shallow ploughed-over depression. Local enquiries
were negative, but the site is suitable for a barrow and the
depression is probably an old stone pit. (2)
