More information : II* Close House, II* Orangery at Close House. 1779. Ashlar, with stone bands, dentilled cornice. 3 storeys. S front has slightly projecting pedimented centre of 3 bays, with centre Ionic doorway and broken pediment, flanking sash windows in moulded stone frames. 3 similar 12-paned sashes on first floor (centre one with a pediment side ones with cornices), and three 6-paned sashes on top floor in moulded stone frames. At either side of this pedimented centre feature is one wing with a similar sash window on each floor. Return sides are 5 bays wide, with a large bow window on each side with dentilled cornice, rainwater-head dated 1800. Ionic fireplace in bow room. S.W. room has good ceiling, carved fireplace and plasterwork. Conservatory (orangery) has 5 bays of Tuscan columns with hipped roof of glass. II Stables and coach-houses at Close House. Built of stone 2 storeys, around three sides of an open courtyard with a central octagonal well Main block opposite entrance has a symmetrical composition of 2 doors with Gibbs surrounds and 4 windows on ground floor, and 6 windows on upper floor. Identical and symmetrical side wings have 2 segmental arched coach entrances in centre with roundels over them, a door and window on each ground floor and 2 windows above.
