Summary : The earthwork remains of a Moated motte mapped from aerial photographs. When field investigated in 1972 the earth and stone motte was 44 metres in diameter at the base and 22 metres in diameter on the summit. It rose 6 metres above the encircling moat. The marshy moat was 11 metres in width and from 0.5 metres deep on the south side to 1.5 metres deep on the north side. The moat was fed by a stream from the north east, leaving from the south west. Scheduled.

Mound and moat, probably a castle mound. The mound is roughly circular and about 47 yds in diameter at the base, rising about 24ft above the bottom of the ditch. The moat is still wet on the NW side. (2)

An earth-and-stone motte, 44.0m in diameter at the base, the flat summit, 22.0m in diameter, being 6.0m above the encircling moat.

The moat, once wet now marshy, is 11.0m in width and from 0.5m deep on the S side to 1.5m deep on the N side. It is fed by a stream entering from the NE and leaving from the SW.

The earthwork remains of the large motte described by the previous authorities was seen located at SO 4619 7291 and mapped from aerial photographs. (6)
