Summary : A group of Bronze Age bronze spearheads are in the Sir Fergus Graham Collection at Tullie House Museum, Carlisle. They are reputedly from the area of the Roman fort at Netherby (NY 37 SE 2). There is no definite proof that they constituted a single hoard, although their grouping in the catalogue of the Graham collection and their similar patina and condition has been taken to suggest that they were. |
More information : A hoard of Bronze Age spearheads is in the Sir Fergus Graham Colln, in the Tullie House Museum, Carlisle. Reputedly from the area of the Roman Fort at Netherby (NY 37 SE 2), like much of the material given to the museum by Sir Fergus Graham. There is no positive evidence that these implements form a hoard, but they are grouped together in the catalogue of the collection and are all so similar in patina and condition that such a conclusion seems inescapable.
