Summary : Site of a Motte and Bailey. The mound was oval and 43 yards long by 33.5 yards across at the base, surrounded by a dry ditch and was 9 feet in height. In 1964 it was removed for its soil.
More information : (SO 4177 3881) A mound, 250yds NW of Madley Church, is oval, 43yds long by 33 1/2 yds across at the base; it is surrounded by a dry ditch and rises to a maximum height of 9ft from the bottom of the ditch. The ditch is continued to enclose a small area to the S. (1-2) SO 41763881. Motte and Bailey but the motte has been removed (1964) for its soil. Surveyed at 1:2500.
