Summary : Benedictine nunnery founded 1174-84 but dissolved before 1204 due to scandalous behaviour.
More information : Ramstede. The priory of St Mary Magdalene was founded between 1178-84 but because of scandalous behaviour of the nuns they were removed before 1204 and the nunnery was not re-established. It seems to have been near South Malling, possibly at Ranscombe. (1) (See TQ 41 SW 11 for tenuous site)
