Summary : Dovenby Hall, an early 19th century country house incorporating a late 13th century tower house with extensions of 1632-91. The Hall was converted into a mental hospital in 1930-31 and two patient villas were built in the grounds. Two more villas, a school and recreation hall were added during the 1930s. An occupational therapy unit was added between 1950 and 1969 but the hospital had closed by 1997. |
