MONUMENT NO. 1072262

DESCRIPTION + /

A terrace situated in Taunton Street of the Railway Village. It comprised twelve `type A' cottages with a `type C' cottage on either end. Both types were designed by Brunel. The `type A' cottages were of two-storeys with five rooms, very similar to those constructed in 1846 in Oxford Street, Reading Street and Farringdon Street. The `type C' cottages were also of two storeys with four rooms, and were a smaller version of the `type D' and `type B' end of block houses. The cottages were constructed in 1853-54 during the final phase of development in the Railway Village. The `type C' cottage on the western end was demolished in 1876 to make way for the construction of Park House. The remainder of the terrace was demolished in 1970. Only the rear yard gateways are visible preserved in a car park boundary wall.
