Motte and Bailey site at Lower Pedwardine with a silted up fishpond in the valley to the north, noted in 1968. (5)
The motte remains unchanged since 1934. The silted up fishpond to the north is not now clearly defined. The motte stands in the middle of a DMV (See SO 37 SE 42), and it would appear that the alleged bailey is part of same. Published survey (25") revised. (6)
SO 367705. (Lower Pedwardine). Possible motte, very ill-marked. (7)
Additional reference. (8)
The motte and bailey are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs and have been mapped by RCHME's Marches Uplands Mapping Project. (10) |
