Summary : Earthwork remains of a Motte and Bailey Castle. A motte 3 metres high and 30 metres in diameter. It is surrounded by a dry ditch, the south side of which was filled in 1930 during the construction of a water pipeline from the Elan Valley. Some 13th to 14th century pottery has been found on the site. Scheduled. |

Mound about 94 ft in diameter at the base and rises about 9 or 10 ft above the surrounding ground. The ditch round the mound is interrupted on the SW side by remains of a causeway. (2)
Motte and bailey castle. (3)
A motte 3.0m high has an overall diameter of 30.0 m. It was surroundedby a dry ditch, the south side of which was filled in in 1930 during the construction of a water pipeline from the Elan Valley (a). There is no trace of masonry on the motte and no evidence of a bailey. Published survey (25") revised.(4)

Shoesmith states there were two baileys and that 13th to 14th century pottery has been found on the site. (6)
