Summary : Convalescent instution of 1841 which moved to new purpose-built premises built between 1852-54. Altered in 1861, 1868 and 1870. The architect was Joseph Clarke and the building was a large, mainly two-storey classical range of red brick and stone. Became a geriatric hospital in 1963 and closed in 1989.
