Summary : Possible Medieval settlement (crofts, hollow way, tofts and boundary) seen as earthworks.
More information : Medieval settlement remains were seen as earthworks, around the
present village of Brandon, and mapped from good quality air
photographs. The remains of possible crofts are visible as
conjoined ditched enclosures, measuring on average 230m by 45m, are
centred at SK 9059 4813. A hollow way continues the line of Church
Lane, east for 70m, and then turns north to link up with the end of
Hall Lane. Possible remains of tofts are visible to the north of
the west end of Hall Lane, centred at SK 9029 4830. Ridge and
furrow is visible to the south of Hough road, centred at
SK 9060 4760. (Morph No. LI.742.11.1-4)
