More information : A probable Roman settlement was seen as cropmarks and mapped from good quality air photographs. The settlement comprises a large main enclosure, 60m wide, double-ditched on the northern side, and subdivided. Within one of the subdivided sections is a small circular enclosure, 8m in diameter, centred at SK 9240 5386. Within another section is another enclosure, 32m by 20m, centred at SK 9240 5383. Attached to the outside of the main enclosure on the south and east sides are three possible enclosures. Two are 20m by 10m, at SK 9245 5381 and SK 9238 5382. Crossing the latter is the ditch of the third possible enclosure.
Also outside the main enclosure, but assumed to to be associated with it, are two large pits, 10m long, at SK 9247 5386 and SK 9246 5379. There is a ditch running north east from the main enclosure for 100m. The ditch appears to have five long pits along its course, its function is not known. A pit alignment (defined by two lines of pits) crosses the line of this ditch. It may pre or post date it and is more fully recorded in SK 95 SW 26. There are a series of enclosures to the south of this settlement which could be associated with it, but have been recorded in SK 95 SW 28. (Morph No. LI.723.2.1 - 2.8, 3.1)
