More information : Medieval or Post Medieval mounds, visible as earthworks but subsequently levelled, were mapped from poor quality air photograph. Five mounds, centred at TF 1154 7061, lie within a substantial ditched enclosure. The ditch of the enclosure cuts earlier ridge and furrow, which has also been ploughed out. These mounds are interpreted as probable pillow mounds/ rabbit warren and lie directly east of the moated precinct of Bardney Abbey (see TF 17 SW 2), with which they may be associated. This is supported by documentary evidence, which suggests that `Coneygarth Close' was part of the Abbey's demense in 16th century and the field name `Coney Green' lay to the east of the monastic precinct.
