Summary : Ditched mound - suggested round barrow, but likely to have been a Medieval ringwork or small motte, although earlier Bronze Age activity cannot be ruled out. The mound is 31m in diameter and is surrounded by a dry ditch and rises 3.6m above the bottom of the ditch. The site was badly damaged in 1967 when a large tree was removed and an access ramp created on the south side. There is a depression in the centre of the mound that has been attributed to antiquarian investigations from when the mound was still suspected as being a prehistoric barrow. Scheduled. |
