Summary : Possible Late Saxon settlement indicated from finds and the field name Bury Close evidence. The pottery was recovered from excavations at Bury Close villa (SP 31 NE 10) in 1986-7, however, no settlement features were identified.
More information : SP 37251685; Late saxon pottery was recovered from both stratified and unstratified contexts during excavations at Bury Close villa (SP 31 NE 10) in 1986-7. These finds and the field name Bury Close may suggest this was the Saxon focus of Fawler. No structures were identified. (1)
