More information : TF 270 661. Site of DMV of Scrivelsby. (1)
Settlement remains and ridge and furrow lying in front of Scrivelsby Court (TF 26 NE 11) are included in survey of earthworks conducted by C C Taylor and P Everson in 1978. (2)
The earthworks in front of Scrivelsby Court mentioned by authority 2 were not visible on air photographs as they were masked by trees. However, the settlement appears to have extended west to where there are five possible crofts (TF 2663 6627). These were visible as earthworks on early photos but were later ploughed level.
An extensive area of ridge and furrow associated with the settlement was also mapped and is bounded by the following grid references:- TF 2741 6514, TF 2677 6569, TF 2681 6650 and TF 2787 6657. It is likely that the ridge and furrow still survives as earthworks because it lies within Scrivelsby Park/Deer Park, although some of it has been cut through by later drains, boundary ditches and trackways. Some of this ridge and furrow would also have belonged to another area of settlement at the eastern end of the Park (see TF 26 NE 35). (Morph Nos LI.189.4.1, 5.1, 2.10-11)
