Turret Tump

Summary : The remains of a Motte at little Hengoed. The motte is 5 metres high and a base diameter of 30 metres. The summit is 12 metres in diameter. On the south side is a ditch, 4 metres wide and 0.3 metres deep with an outer bank, 4 metres wide and 1.3 metres high externally. There are no traces of a ditch or bank on the other sides. Scheduled.

Turret Tump, a castle mound, "roughly circular, 86ft in diameter at the base and 16 1/2ft high. There are remains of a ditch, with an outer bank, on the S side". (2)

Turret Tump, a motte situated upon a hilltop with commanding views particularly to the E and S. The motte, constructed of earth and stone, is 5.0m high, and has a base diameter of 30.0m. The summit is 12.0m in diameter. On the S side is a ditch, 4.0m wide, 0.3m deep, with an outer bank, 4.0m wide and 1.3m high externally. There are no traces of ditch or bank on the other sides which fall within a different field. The motte is grass-covered with some trees on it and is in good condition.
