Monument Number 104943

Hob Uid: 104943
Location :
County of Herefordshire
Cusop
Grid Ref : SO2360042600
Summary : Earthwork ( site of ) / Supposed Norman Watch Tower. Closer inspection of the site suggests that the mound may in fact be related to post-medieval farm workings.
More information : (SO 236426) "In Norman times a small fortification,
probably nothing more than a watch tower, stood in what is
now an orchard behind the Nant-y-glasdwr farm house".

(Nothing visible on available AP's (RAF 1946). (1)

There is no local knowledge nor any visible trace of an earthwork
in the orchard though the extensive linear quarrying in evidence
may have destroyed any remains. (2)
