Hob Uid: 1047614
Location :
Doncaster
Barnby Dun with Kirk Sandall, Cantley, Thorpe in Balne, Armthorpe
Non Civil Parish
Grid Ref : SE6300000300
Summary : Roman road: Cantley Spur Road (Bessacarr Grange to possibly Thorpe Marsh and beyond). Conjectural.
More information : RR 281 Roman Road. Cantley Spur Road.
It seems likely that another road continued the alignment of RR 28a beyond the turn at Bessacarr Grange, upon a course east of Doncaster. T is followed for a mile by a road towards Cantley and again beyond Cantley Hall by the eastern edge of Sandall Beat Wood, but more work is needed here. (1)

See Ordnance Survey Linear Archive File for more details especially postulated extension beyond Sandall Beat Wood to Thorpe Marsh. (2)
