More information : Earthwork evidence of Medieval or Post Medieval settlement was mapped from poor quality air photographs on the east side of the present village of Scremby. The following features were identified:-
A rectilinear system of boundary ditches, seen as earthworks. Individual units of the system are on average 250m by 50m; the system extends between TF 4446 6822 and TF 4453 6769.
Broad ridge and furrow, maximum length 130m, was associated with the southern half of the system, centred at TF 4453 6780. Two further blocks of broad ridge and furrow, maximum length 130m and 140m were recorded at TF 4435 6816 and TF 4481 6815; all were seen as earthworks.
At TF 4441 6811 there is earthwork evidence for a trackway which runs N-S for 200m; the line of its western boundary is continued by the cropmark of a bank, a probable field boundary 200m in length, which arcs round to the west. (Morph No. LI.179.4.1-6)
