Centred SX 74747874. A small sub-circular enclosure on the gentle E slope of Houndtor Down 70m NW of Greator Rocks. The feature possesses a level interior 17m E to W by 11m. Turf and stone banks on average 2.0m wide and 0.7m high mark the W, N and E sides while the S edge is formed by a stoney scarp. There are no recognisable internal features and no obvious entrance though two gaps in its perimeter are used by a modern footpath. A medieval or later field wall incorporates much of the W side of this enclosure. A further stoney scarp runs SW from the enclosure and possibly marks an adjoining contemporary feature while a scarp to the SE is probably related to the post-medieval ploughing in this area.
Depicted and described by Butler 1991, map 8. (1-3)
The Bronze Age enclosure is visible as an earthwork on visualisations of Environment Agency 1m Lidar data flown in 2021 and was mapped from aerial sources in 2023 during the Historic England Dartmoor-Plym project. It is within scheduled monument NHLE 1016255. (4)
