Hob Uid: 1038869
Location :
Lincolnshire
West Lindsey
Fillingham
Grid Ref : SK9687086290
Summary : Roman road visible as cropmarks.
More information : A short stretch of Ermine street is visible as a cropmark on air
photographs and has been mapped at 1:2500 scale. The agger is
visible where the modern road diverges from the line of the Roman
road. The road is visible in two stretches north and south of
Blacklands wood from SK 9687 8629 to SK 9686 8645 and SK 9685 8655 to
SK 9685 8669. Within the wood the road is visible as a cropmark in
the rough grassland where the trees have been removed or are bare.
A side road seems to head west from the southern section
of the road. This is only visible for 150m from SK 9688 8634 to
SK 9671 8634 and no further sections could be seen further to the
west.
