Summary : Scheduled section of Iron Age or Early Medieval? defensive dyke or boundary. Surviving partly as earthwork. Partly re-surveyed at 1:1250. Excavated sections in 1947-48.
More information : (SK 396 922 - SK 398 923) Ridge appears as intermittent bank. (SK 398 923 - SK 398 926) Dyke appears as scarp up to 5ft high on east. (1) (SK 396 922 - SK 398 925. Single lynchet ranging in height from 1.6m to 3.2m, probably exaggerated by plough headland. Beyond SK 398 925 the feature has been destroyed by housing although extant in places. Partly re-surveyed at 1:1250 scale. (2) (Original survey document in Linear Archive File) SK 396 922 - SK 398 925. Roman Ridge: SE of Hill Top (section 700yds (660m long), Meadowhall Road to Hill Top). Scheduled. (3)
