THE NEWPORT ARCH

ALTERNATIVE NAME:  UPPER TOWN NORTH GATE

This structure is the remnants of the north gate to the Roman legionary fortress and the late Roman upper town, and of the Medieval city. It is comprised of a main archway and a smaller pedestrian archway; 3rd and 17th century; restored 14th century.
