Historic England Research Records

Monument Number 1011678

Hob Uid: 1011678
Location :
Cumbria
Allerdale
Holme Low
Grid Ref : NY0980050400
Summary : An area of possible Roman pavement was uncovered 400 yards up the coast from tower 13b.
More information : About 400 yards further up the coast (from tower 13b - NY 05 SE 2) Robinson found a pavement 28ft square resembling a section of the possibly Roman road, though much wider than parts of the road south of Beckfoot Camp (NY 04 NE 12). (1a)
No trace and no further information. From Robinson's topographical description this `pavement' would have been in the area NY 098 504. It's function remains unclear; it is considered too wide (28ft) to be the remains of a Roman road. (1)
