More information : [NY23016275] Tumulus [GT] (1)
"Knockcross is a mound resembling an ancient British barrow, but has been somewhat encroached upon by the road." "At this place the hilt of a sword and part of the blade was found a few years ago" (2). Collingwood (3) suggests that Knockcross and Fishers Cross which both lie in front of the wall, may, if Roman, be watch Towers belonging to the Vallum series. No Roman finds have been made here. "In 1785 only an upright stone stood here (4). (2-4)
No intelligible remains. Published survey (25") revised. (5)
