Summary : This centurial stone was found in 1973 during the consolidation of the north face of the Wall at Black Carts in the fourth course above the footings 75m west of the west wall of turret 29a. The stone is of buff coloured sandstone and measures 0.27m x 0.22m and is still in situ. The stone is inscribed with:[...].N[...]TABRI[...]CRE[...] 7 LABRI[...]'The century of Cantaber (built this)'.The stone is recorded as No.3307 in the Roman Inscriptions of Britain.

This centurial stone was found in 1973 during the consolidation of the north face of the Wall at Black Carts in the fourth course above the footings 75m west of the west wall of turret 29a. The stone is of buff coloured sandstone and measures 0.27m x 0.22m and is still in situ. The stone is inscribed with:

TABRI

[...]CRE[...] 7 LABRI[...]

'The century of Cantaber (built this)'.

The stone is weathered and broken at the top. The stone is recorded as No.3307 in the Roman Inscriptions of Britain. A revised Grid Reference for the stone is given as NY88357130. (2)
