Summary : The site of a Roman gateway in Hadrian's Wall. It is positioned 100 metres north-east of the north-east corner of Housesteads Fort, and is now consolidated.
More information : Discovered 1855 (1a); excavated 1936 (1b) and 1988 (1c). Now consolidated; gateway 3.7m wide; two cells either side, 4.65m NW-SE by 3.25m. The entrances are 0.95m wide opening onto a passage. (1) Scheduled (2) Survey (3) Located on the English Heritage map of Hadrian's Wall 2010. (4)
